Frequently Asked Questions

How does Screen Lime work?

Screen Lime adds a brief pause before you can open apps you've configured. During this pause, you'll see a screen that gives you a moment to think about whether you really want to use the app right now. It's designed to break the automatic habit of opening apps mindlessly.

How much does Screen Lime cost?

Screen Lime is free forever for one app—no account or credit card required. If you want more flexibility, Screen Lime Pro lets you add multiple apps or categories, customize breath length and pause frequency, and view screen time trends. Pro is available as an optional subscription at $2.99/month or $19.99/year.

Can I customize which apps have a pause?

With the free version, you can add one app to Screen Lime. If you upgrade to Screen Lime Pro, you can add multiple apps or entire app categories.

Does Screen Lime track my app usage data?

No, Screen Lime does not track or store your personal app usage data. It works with iOS Screen Time API to function, but all data stays on your device. We don't see what apps you use or how long you use them.

Can I bypass the pause?

Yes, you can always choose to continue to the app after the pause. Screen Lime isn't about blocking apps entirely. It's about giving you a moment to make a conscious choice about your app usage.

Can I see how much time I've saved?

Yes! Screen Lime includes a stats screen where you can track the time you've saved by choosing not to open apps after seeing the pause screen. It's a great way to visualize your progress and stay motivated.

I'm having trouble setting up Screen Lime. Where can I get help?

Does Screen Lime work on websites?

Screen Lime's website functionality is currently limited to Safari on iPhone. If you've configured an app in Screen Lime but not its associated website, visiting that website in Safari will show Apple's default "restricted" page. To see the Screen Lime prompt when visiting a website of a configured app, you'll need to add that website to your Screen Lime settings as well.

Why do I need to allow notifications for Screen Lime?

Screen Lime uses notifications to guide you through the breathing exercise. When you tap "Yes" on the Screen Lime shield, you should immediately see a "Tap to Continue" notification that takes you to the app. If you don't see this notification, check these common causes:

  • Your phone might be in a Focus mode (like Sleep mode) that blocks notifications. You can fix this by editing your Focus mode settings and adding Screen Lime as an allowed app.
  • You may not have granted Screen Lime permission to send notifications. Go to Settings > Screen Lime > Notifications and make sure it's enabled.

Don't worry - Screen Lime only sends silent notifications to function properly and won't send any unnecessary or distracting alerts.

What happens if I cancel Screen Lime Pro?

If you cancel Pro, you'll keep access until the end of your billing period, then revert to the free tier (one app). Your saved-time stats remain, and you can re-subscribe anytime to unlock Pro features again.
